Māori Dimensions Program

Māori Dimensions Program

Our commitment to schools and all education institutes is the consistent delivery of an in-school Māori Dimensions Program, ensuring participation from all students and their teaching staff. The beauty of this program is that it is tailored to suit the needs of all learners from years 1 to years 8 and their teaching staff re-enforcing the idea of collaborative learning. We have identified these years to be the most crucial times of learning, using this as an opportunity to capture a youth cohort that otherwise would be unaware of the significance of Māori culture in today’s society. In alignment with the in-school program,  our ‘Te Rerenga ki Tai’ team provide great advisory and support for teachers, families and principals regarding anything relative to Kaupapa Māori. The overall aim of our team is to ensure and assist the positive integration of Māori Culture in to general school activities.

To set the foundation for an in-school Marae forum built upon local Māori knowledge reflective of local protocol. The underlying aim is for the following cultural aspects to be naturally filtered through general school practises.

These include the delivery of:
• Tīkanga/Protocol
• Mahi Toi/Māori Arts
• Kapa Haka/Māori Performing Arts
• Waiata/Songs
• Hauora/Health
• Korikori Tīnana/Exercises
• Mātāriki and Puanga/Māori New Year
• Te Reo Māori/Māori Language
• Marae
• Pōwhiri/Traditional Welcoming
